Schoones Transmissies B.V. specialises in the overhaul of manual, semi-automatic, and DSG gearboxes. Serving both private and business customers, the company sets itself apart with its large stock of revised gearboxes across multiple brands and models. To continue delivering this service quickly and reliably, a stronger digital foundation was required: real-time insight into inventory, bills of materials, and work orders, all integrated with the financial administration.
Previously, Schoones Transmissies worked with a financial administration system separate from an industry-specific solution for gearbox registration. This meant there was no up-to-date overview of gearbox or parts inventory. Work orders were paper-based, invoicing and warranty registration were partly manual, and post-calculation of overhaul orders was nearly impossible. Without a central ERP solution, time was lost in searching and waiting, and procurement processes were harder to streamline.
Together with Vasilok, Schoones Transmissies implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The implementation was phased and pragmatic:
Vasilok mapped processes, carried out data migration, developed the required documents, and trained employees. Client-specific requirements were implemented (such as bills of materials per brand/type and warehouse locations), and aftercare and support were put in place. The collaboration between Managing Director Bertus Keunen and consultant Jos de Lang was smooth, combining Schoones Transmissies’ process knowledge with Business Central’s functional and technical expertise.
For businesses carrying out gearbox overhauls (manual, DSG, and semi-automatic), reliable stock management is essential: revisions require specific parts and fast delivery times. An integrated ERP and inventory system prevents duplication, reduces search times, and makes pricing and margin management transparent. By using Business Central, an overhaul company can work at scale and remain customer-focused, without knowledge being confined to a few employees.
“With the implementation of Business Central, we’ve said goodbye to paper-based work orders and disconnected systems. Information is now stored in one environment and accessible to everyone. That saves time and prevents mistakes.” — Bertus Keunen, Schoones Transmissies B.V.
The first upgrades are already planned: time registration on orders for improved post-calculation and the full implementation of Business Central’s financial module. A link with AUTOMATE is also being explored to minimise duplicate data entry. This step-by-step approach creates space to add functionality without disrupting day-to-day operations.
