Gentiluomo is a Dutch luxury clothing manufacturer. The brand is known for its stylish collections, premium materials, and attention to detail. For Gentiluomo, quality always comes first. Not only in fabrics and colours, but also in its business processes and reporting.
For many years, Gentiluomo worked with Navision containing a large amount of customisation. With the move to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the company faced an important question: should we tailor the system, or adapt our processes?
As every report and calculation had to meet the highest quality standards, concepts were often reviewed several times. This required a meticulous approach.
Together with Vasilok, the decision was made to implement Business Central with the Fashion App. A clean new environment was created, with most historical data remaining in Navision. Only the financial history was retrospectively entered into Business Central.
The timing of the go-live was critical: with only two fashion seasons a year, the planning had to be flawless. Thanks to intensive collaboration and the commitment of a team of consultants, this was achieved with great care.
The collaboration was positive, though at times challenging. As Gentiluomo themselves remarked: “We are a fashion company, not an IT company.” This made it all the more important for the consultants to bridge the gap between the specific demands of the fashion industry and the capabilities of Business Central. The combination of domain knowledge on the client side and process expertise at Vasilok proved essential in making the project a success.
Lars Castelijns was involved both at the start and at the delivery of the project. He coordinated the work between consultants and provided support during the final stages. With two full-time consultants and two part-time specialists, the complex project was steered successfully to completion.
Gentiluomo now works with a future-proof ERP system that aligns more closely with their processes. Thanks to the Fashion App in Business Central, both purchasing and sales are better supported, enabling the company to move forward with confidence.
“This was a particularly special project for me,” says Lars. “We brought a complex programme to a successful conclusion. I also really enjoyed getting a look behind the scenes at a brand I personally wear. The Gentiluomo team were enthusiastic, and I always enjoyed being on-site.”
The next step is further process automation. For example, printing and sending invoices after posting will soon be largely automated. As Gentiluomo works with large invoice batches, this will result in a significant time saving.
